Walking for Awareness

This year the stars have aligned so I will be walking in the Gift of Life's Donor Dash on April 20th.

I don't have any specific connection to organ donation - no story of a family member on the waiting list for years before a transplant was possible. I don't have a tragic connection to the death of someone close to me whose organs have gone on to save others. I just believe that organ donation is the last and best thing someone can do with their life to help other people.

For a couple of years DH was involved with the transplant program. During that time, I couldn't complain too much about his weird and long hours because most of the time he actually was heading out to help save someones life.

My target is to raise $250 this first year.

Time to head out for new walking sneakers and on to the trails for a training walk.

Da Bunny

Happy Easter to everyone.

After sunrise services (7am, for those in the civilized suburbs) and breakfast at church, I kept MM and LB busy with eggs until dinner with the family. Look at the fun we created.

Easter eggs are such fun with the kids. This year the blue, yellow, and green were the strong colors. For the next couple of days, LB will have green hands since he refused to use the egg dipper. "My hands will do better."

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Back to a more normal schedule tomorrow.

What a weekend

This weekend was all about celebrations and family.

Uncle Mort will be celebrating his 90th birthday officially next month. Since the kids have Spring Break now, the family gathered in McLean this weekend to celebrate. With family from California, Texas, Florida, and us from Philadelphia, it was the largest gathering in the past couple of years.

MM and Larryboy got to spend time with the older cousins both being entertained and entertaining. Lots of singing, dancing, and other performing was involved.

As this celebration was planned, DH and I didn't really think about the fact that it was our anniversary weekend. Eleven years ago, the family was all gathered to celebrate our wedding - where has the time gone.

Aunt Gail and Alison made sure to provide cake and song for our anniversary. So DH and I have been wonderfully feted.

Keep watching for more fun with the family...

I've got something finished

What a way to begin - a second post and finished projects.

Last week I had a free day and decided to spend the day sitting at my sewing machine. I've had the fabric for new kitchen curtains for at least 3 years. So last Tuesday was the day...

My obsession for tea is well known. Actually some people think I'm a bit of a tea snob, but once you've found quality tea from a dependable source - who can blame a girl for searching out the best. Finding this fabric was just the perfect piece for my kitchen. Color isn't a big deal right now since I can't find exactly what I like for backsplash tiles, and besides every color I really like is in the pattern.

I have enough of this fabric left to make myself an apron. Keep watching for that pictures.
